Hospital visits are frightening for children. Scans, blood work, unfamiliar machines, clinical corridors. The trajectory of treatment for a seriously ill child is long and disorienting.

Philips asked us to help change that experience. The idea was straightforward: gamify the journey. Every step through the hospital becomes something to navigate rather than endure.

Every scan, every appointment, every procedure is a marker on a path that the child can see and understand.

We developed the visual world that runs underneath it. Avatars that can be unlocked as the journey progresses. Illustrated backgrounds to collect. Badges earned at each stage. Animations that give the app personality and warmth.

The design had to feel genuinely playful without being dismissive of what these children are going through. Light enough to offer real comfort. Considered enough to respect the situation.
